St. Peter's Cemetery is located at the corner of River Road and Falls Road, with the entrance on Moore Road, off of Falls Road. The land for St. Peter's was donated by the Clark Family, and the earliest burial appears to have been Gertrude Clark, a baby, in 1887. Initially St. Peter's allowed burials of other denominations, but it is now the only Roman Catholic Cemetery in the mid-Island region.
ST. PETER’S CEMETERY REGULATIONS
1. No types of grave covers, borders or fences, potted plants or flower boxes, or rocks are allowed on grave sites.
2. All floral arrangements must be unwrapped and placed in proper sunken metal vases or containers designed for that purpose. NO GLASS OR PLASTIC, or metal pipes are to be used as containers. No other adornments shall be left on graves.

6. For All Souls' Day, artificial candles may be placed on gravestones, for a period of one week. Live flame is NOT permitted!
7. Only Authorized Persons may perform interments or install or remove memorial markers; all marker installations must comply with Cemetery By-Laws. Under NO circumstances should any scattering of ashes take place inside St. Peter's Cemetery!
If you have a question, comment, or concern regarding St. Peter's, please email the church office with "St. Peter's Cemetery" in the subject line; your correspondence will be brought forward at the next regular meeting of the Board.
If the next time you visit St. Peter's, you find items removed from a loved one's grave, it is because it is a violation of the by-laws to leave anything other than flowers on graves. For the safety of our volunteer groundskeepers, organic or artificial cut flowers- placed in a sunken vase made of durable material designed specifically for the purpose of holding flowers*- are the ONLY thing that should be left on a grave. Please, DO NOT place items back on graves.
*Please contact the office to inquire about purchasing and having installed an approved vase; the cost is $65.
In addition to the limited number of both Full-Body and Cremation Interment Rights remaining for sale in the existing area at St. Peter's, 15 full-body and 349 cremation Interment Rights are now for sale in a new area opened in 2024; priority to interment rights is given to parishioners of Holy Family/Notre Dame Parish and their spouses, and then members of the Roman Catholic faith. If you are interested in purchasing an Interment Right, the Fee Schedule can be found under "Links" below; please contact the church office for more information.
If you wish to bury a loved one who already holds an Interment Right for St. Peter's, both a Control of Disposition and an Interment Authorization (see "Links" below) will need to be completed and submitted to the office at least 48 hours prior to the desired date of burial. Interment will only take place once an Interment Permit has been issued, all applicable fees have been paid, and a copy of the Death Certificate or Cremation Certificate has been submitted to the office. Only the Cemetery Caretaker is permitted to perform interments.
There is to be ABSOLUTELY NO SCATTERING of ashes anywhere within St. Peter's Cemetery, as this goes against the teachings of the Catholic Church.
Installation of a gravestone must take place within one (1) year of interment, is only to be performed by the Cemetery Caretaker, and requires the prior approval of the Administrator. If you have plans to mark the grave site of a loved one buried at St. Peter's, please download the Memorial Marker Permit; completed forms can then be submitted in person, by mail, or electronically to the church office. You will be contacted within 7-10 business days with the Administrator's decision, and to make appropriate arrangements for the installation to take place. It is strongly recommended that you ensure you receive an approved permit for the marker PRIOR TO ORDERING from the monument maker; the Cemetery Board of Trustees reserves the right to refuse installation of, or to remove, markers that do not comply with the by-laws. Please read Sections 7 and 8 of the Cemetery By-laws for the rules and regulations governing memorial markers (attached to the permit).
