Since marriage in the Catholic Church is a sacrament and a lifetime commitment, the Church is deeply concerned with each marriage; one of the ways the Church values and honours marriage is by taking the time to help couples prepare. Couples are asked to give a minimum of six months' notice prior to the intended date of their wedding. Church policy also requires that marriages be performed in the home parish; our priest will not perform a marriage for a couple who do not attend our church without good cause, as well as a letter from their parish priest giving permission.
To begin the process, please complete the Marriage Request form and return to the church office, after which the priest will be in touch regarding next steps; this should take place before finalizing a date, as the priest will only confirm a date after meeting with and interviewing the two individuals.
All couples planning to marry in the Diocese of Victoria are also required to take the Marriage Preparation Course, which is now offered online.
