The Sacrament of Baptism is a beautiful occasion that initiates a person into the life, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ. When a family seeks Baptism for their child, or an individual for themselves, they are asking to belong; baptism in the Church brings with it the rights and priveleges of being a Roman Catholic, and leads the newly baptized person to the table of the Lord. Weekly participation in the Sunday Eucharist by the family or individual is a valuable and expected sign that a person is disposed to celebrating the Sacrament of Baptism and being open to the wonder and grace of God. We, the people of God, look forward to joining you on this journey of preparation!
As it is a journey, it is recommended to give at least six weeks notice when requesting the Sacrament of Baptism; some exceptions can be made, but will be at the discretion of the parish priest and on an individual basis. As they are an ecclesial event, baptisms will normally only take place during a regular Mass, and are not scheduled during Advent or Lent. To get started, please complete the Baptism Request form; it can be handed in to the office during regular hours, dropped through the slot in the office door, mailed, or submitted electronically to [email protected]. If you/your family are not already registered in our parish, please also complete the parish registration form. Once received, our priest will reach out to you regarding next steps. In the meantime, please see the links for more information on baptism, and choosing Godparents!
Please note that it is normal practice for baptism to take place in the parish where the family/individual is registered and regularly attends. If you are registered and/or regularly attend Mass at a different church, you will be asked why you desire baptism at Holy Family Notre Dame, and will need to provide a letter from your parish priest stating that he has no objections to you/your child being baptized here.
