St. Peter's Cemetery is located at the corner of River Road and Falls Road, with the entrance on Moore Road, off of Falls Road.  The land for St. Peter's was donated by the Clark Family, and the earliest burial appears to have been Gertrude Clark, a baby, in 1887.  Initially St. Peter's allowed burials of other denominations, but it is now the only Roman Catholic Cemetery in the mid-Island region.
While the physical grounds of St. Peter's Cemetery has been- and continues to be- faithfully looked after by a team of dedicated volunteers, for many years the administration of the cemetery had been neglected.  In December 2019, a Board of Trustees was appointed to oversee the cemetery's management, and to begin making much needed updates and changes.  The first task the Board undertook was to update the Cemetery's By-Laws.  For a copy of the complete by-laws, please click on the button below; however, written here are the regulations deemed most important, which you will also find posted on signage at St. Peter's itself.

                                                              ST. PETER’S CEMETERY REGULATIONS

 1. No types of grave covers, curbings or fences, or flower boxes are allowed on grave sites.
 2. All floral arrangements must be placed in proper sunken metal vases or containers – NO GLASS OR PLASTIC.
3. Authorized Persons are permitted to remove flowers or adornments from grave sites at their discretion.
4. No person shall plant, remove, cut down or destroy any trees, shrubs, plants, flowers, or bulbs, or add rocks to grave sites in the cemetery, other than Authorized Persons.
5. NO dogs are allowed OFF LEASH; owners must remove dog excrement immediately and dispose of it in a sanitary manner NOT within the Cemetery.
6.  Only Authorized Persons will install or remove memorials or headstones.

If you have a question, comment, or concern regarding St. Peter's, please email the church office with "St. Peter's Cemetery" in the subject line; your correspondence will be brought forward at the next regular meeting of the Board.
St. Peter's Cemetery By-Laws
In preparation for Spring, and the return of mowing season, volunteers have once again visited the cemetery to perform cleaning.  If, the next time you visit, you find items removed from a loved one's grave, it is because they were not in keeping with cemetery by-laws.  For the safety of our volunteer groundskeepers, organic or artificial cut flowers in a sunken, metal container are the ONLY thing that should be left on a grave.  Anything left behind that was not broken or destroyed has been placed in the plastic tubs by the fence; items too large to go inside the tubs have been placed against the fence.  Please take anything belonging to you home; DO NOT place items back on graves.  Items not retrieved by Mother's Day will be permanently removed by an authorized person.

RESERVED PLOTS
Current and future holders of reserved plots need to have an Interment Rights Certificate completed and signed in their name FOR EACH PERSON wishing interment in the given plot.  Volunteers are currently working diligently to contact all those listed in our records as having reserved plots, but if you or a family member have a plot reserved at St. Peter's, and have not been contacted, please complete the form below and submit to the office as soon as possible.  In addition, if you have intentions of being buried in an existing plot with other family members who are already interred, you will also need to submit a completed form.  The Board of Cemetery Trustees has established a deadline of November 6, 2021 for receipt of these forms, after which date reserved plots and/or interment rights in existing plots will be considered surrendered with no refund owing.

MEMORIAL MARKERS
Installation of a memorial marker (headstone/gravestone) is only to be performed by the Cemetery Caretaker, and requires the prior approval of the Administrator.  If you have plans to mark the grave site of a loved one buried at St. Peter's, please download the Memorial Marker Permit; completed forms can then be submitted in person, by mail, or electronically to the church office.  You will be contacted within 7-10 business days with the Administrator's decision, and to make appropriate arrangements for the installation to take place.  It is strongly recommended that you ensure you receive an approved permit for the marker PRIOR TO ORDERING from the monument maker; the Cemetery Board of Trustees reserves the right to refuse installation of or to remove markers that do not comply with the by-laws.  Please read Sections 7 and 8 of the Cemetery By-laws for the rules and regulations governing memorial markers.

BURIAL AT ST. PETER'S CEMETERY
There are a limited number of Full-Body and Cremation Plots remaining for sale at St. Peter's, with priority being given to parishioners of Holy Family/Notre Dame Church, and then members of the Roman Catholic faith.  If you are interested in purchasing a Plot, please contact the church office for more information.

If you are wanting to bury a loved one with a plot at St. Peter's already reserved, the following forms will need to be completed and submitted to the office at least 48 hours prior to the desired date of burial.  Interment will only take place once an Interment Permit has been issued, and all applicable fees paid.  Only the Cemetery Caretaker is permitted to perform interments.
